Hatteras Island Ocean Center Conservation and Education
Head down the famous and much loved NC12 Hatteras National Seashore to the Hatteras Island Ocean Center and you can experience a beach expedition to discover unique Outer Banks landscape, or can go on a birding hike to uncover hundreds of different species of local and migrating birds.
SAGA Community Focus is excited to partner this fall with the Hatteras Island Ocean Center on the Pamlico Sound as an interactive destination on the Southern Outer Banks for conservation and ecological learning. Interns from Hampton-Sydney College lead seasonal paddling tours in the salt marsh and sound, revealing the diverse ecosytems found on these barrier islands and other great programs.
Visit the Ocean Center for the many interesting displays from sea turtles to their resident blue crab in their interactive indoor/outdoor nature center. Our motto continues to be “A head for solutions. A heart for service.”
